To master the elegance of the noble dances of the French court, thorough training is required. Regarding the term ‘Belle Danse’ or ‘French Noble Style’ >> see here!
In this course, we will aim to refine our style and dance technique. This involves a great deal of basic training:
Work on posture, port de bras, steps and body work on the gymnastics mat.
We will then put the skills we have just learnt or refreshed into practice in an original choreography. In order to take the participants’ different levels into account and cater to them, the course is divided into three sections:
Basic training: The basic training is open to everyone, from beginners to those who are already at an advanced level.
Choreography for slightly advanced dancers: This session focuses on an excerpt from a simple choreography. This enables even slightly advanced dancers to apply the technique they have learnt in the basic training to their dancing. Knowledge of various basic Baroque steps, such as the pas de bourrée, coupé and contretemps, is required, and terms like plié and relevé should already be known aswell.
Technique and Choreography for Experienced Dancers: Participants with some experience of Baroque dance can practise more advanced technical elements here, such as cabrioles, battements and turns, and then incorporate these into a challenging choreography.
