In Bernd’s advanced course, we will be working on a scene from Henry Purcell’s "The Fairy Queen": Masque II (The Night and Sleep).

Afternoon class

Bernd's afternoon class will also feature a choreography to Masque II from "The Fairy Queen" – and even those with less experience can join in!

Bernd Niedecken: Trained in classical and modern dance in Freiburg and Strasbourg and in Baroque and Renaissance dance in Paris under Andrea Francalanci, Béatrice Massin and Marie-Geneviève. Bernd studied philosophy and Romance languages in Strasbourg, Toulouse and Freiburg. He danced at the Freiburg City Theatre and with various independent companies. In 1993, he founded the Erato Ensemble (music, dance and drama, specialising in Baroque theatre) together with the musician Antje Niedecken, which has performed at numerous festivals. As an internationally sought-after performer and experienced teacher, he collaborates with the leading companies in historical dance (L’Eventail, Fêtes Galantes, Passo Continuo, RenaiDanse) and regularly teaches courses (conservatoires in Freiburg, Trossingen, Zurich, Weimar, etc.). Bernd Niedecken has directed a total of ten productions by the Erato Ensemble, staging the ballet comedy "Le Mariage forcé" by Molière/Lully/Beauchamp and the ballets "Don Juan" and "Semiramis" by Gluck/Angiolini. At the Frankfurt Opera, he choreographed "Le Nozze di Figaro" and the oratorio "La Giuditta".
