Metamorphoses - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Morning classes

Morning classes are held for three different levels of Baroque dance:

Beginners will be introduced to the basics of this dance style in the morning class taught by
>>  Niels Badenhop, using a choreography set to an aria/chaconne from Johann Joseph Fux’s serenata “Dafne in Lauro”. Of course, participants with some experience of Baroque dance are also welcome on this course!

Participants with a good basic knowledge of Baroque dance will start the day in
>>  Pia Brocza's  class with choreographies set to Georg Philipp Telemann’s orchestral suite “Grillen-Symphonie” ("Cricket Symphony").

Experienced dancers will attend the morning class led by
>>  Bernd Niedecken  featuring a choreography to Masque II from Henry Purcell’s "The Fairy Queen": "The Night and Sleep".

Afternoon classes

All our afternoon courses are aimed at both beginners and advanced learners as well:

>>  Niels Badenhop has arranged choreographies for his group based on the “Four Seasons” from  Henry Purcells "Fairy Queen".

>>  Pia Brocza  Pia Brocza is working with us to create another ‘insect-inspired’ dance to Telemann’s "Cricket Symphony".

>>  Bernd Niedecken will be working with his afternoon group on another scene from Masque II of Henry Purcell’s "The Fairy Queen".

Please note:

Baroque dance is characterised by its own unique movement patterns and a specific repertoire of steps. Even those with plenty of experience in other dance styles are, at this stage – beginners!

The following applies to participants of all levels:

Those who want to take it really easy can just attend classes in the mornings or afternoons and enjoy plenty of free time in between, and, depending on how you feel, join in our evening activities.
